Tribute to Madam Elizabeth Evoeme

Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, a renowned Nigerian actress, was born in 1942 in Calabar, Cross River State. She was fondly known as “Ovularia”, her stage name in the iconic TV sitcom of the 80s, “The New Masquerade”. As “Ovularia”, she played the role of wife to Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwogbo (alias 4:30), bringing to life a lovable, assertive, and obedient character who never disagreed with her husband’s decisions.

In 2020, Madam Evoeme was recognized for her immense contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry. Her scintillating performances on set in the 80s left an indelible mark on the memories of many. She will forever be remembered as one of the most comical characters on Nigerian television, who played her role with great passion and professionalism.

Madam Elizabeth Evoeme passed away on May 7th, 2024, at the age of 81.
