TIMI DAKOLO

Timi Dakolo is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer born on January 20, 1981 in Accra,Ghana to a Nigerian father and a Ghanaian mother.

He started his singing career in Porthacourt at the age of twelve.In 2003, he joined a popular singing group known as ‘Purple Love’.

Dakolo received an early career boost when he won a local talent hunt contest named the G.E FACTO in Port Harcourt.

His emergence at the national level came in the 2006 inaugural edition of the reality show, Idols West Africa
where Dakolo beat a number of equally talented musicians like Omawunmi to emerge victorious.

His stellar singing career has also rewarded him with other awards and recognitions such as:
i. 2010 Hip Hop World Revelation of the Year, Headies Awards (nominated)
ii. Best Recording Award of the Year, 2015

He has over the years developed into one of the best vocalists with a unique voice that resonates beautifully. Dakolo has some of these songs to his credit:
Beautiful Noise; Great Nation;Wish Me Well; Medicine; Everything (Amen); Obim; The Vow; Iyawo Mi among others.

Dakolo has been dubbed Nigeria’s King of Soul by a number of admirers and remains a pride of creativity and a shining star in the music industry in Nigeria.
