THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has been honoured with the 2025 Outstanding Institution Recognition Award by the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) for its sustained contributions to the growth, protection and development of Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.
The award was presented at the 8th International Convention on Art and Development (CONADEV 2025) held on 28th November 2025, in Victoria Island, Lagos. The three-day convention convened leading creators, cultural institutions, investors and policymakers to advance discourse on art, development and creative industry sustainability.
Receiving the award, the Director-General NCC, Dr. John Asein, expressed the Commission’s appreciation to the SNA and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to protecting creators’ rights.
The DG, NCC who was represented at the event by the Director Lagos Office of the Commission Mrs. Lynda Alphaeus, further noted that the Commission is strengthening policies that will engender respect for copyright, stimulate creativity, innovation and inclusive growth of the Intellectual Property sectors.
While commending the Society of Nigerian Artists for its unwavering commitment to artistic excellence and sector development, the Director-General NCC also congratulated all the award recipients.
The SNA President, Mr. Mohammed Sulaiman, noted that the NCC’s recognition reflects the Commission’s strategic leadership in strengthening copyright governance, safeguarding artistic works and fostering an enabling environment for Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries to thrive.
He highlighted the Commission’s ongoing enforcement actions, public education initiatives and stakeholder collaboration were highlighted as pivotal to the sector’s advancement.
Other distinguished honourees at the ceremony included: Dr. Kolade Oshinowo, Meritorious Service Award; Otunba Engr. Yemisi Shyllon, Legacy Art Award; Mr. John Amanam, Distinguished Artist of the Year; Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Distinguished Artist Patron Award; Master Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, Outstanding Young Artist of the Year, recognised for his Guinness World Record achievement in producing the world’s largest artistic canvas.
