School Proprietors, Book Sellers Cautioned against Piracy in Ilorin

School proprietors and book sellers in Ilorin, Kwara State, have been urged to deal in only genuine copyright publications and shun pirated books.

Ag. State Coordinator, Ilorin Office, Mrs. Bilikis Bello, cautioned during separate copyright sensitisation of the stakeholders that the Commission would spear no effort in ensuring diligent prosecution of those caught engaging in piracy of any kind in their respective dealings.

In an effort to ensure strict compliance with copyright regulations on books, Mrs Bello led a team of Copyright Inspectors on copyright sensitisation and compliance inspection visits to the Federal Staff Secondary School; SWOT Academy and Trendsetters Academy in the  Ilorin West Local Government of Kwara State on September 20, 2021.

The acting state coordinator reiterated the need for the School authorities to ensure strict compliance with copyright law and regulations and called for proper record keeping as evidence of buying books from authentic sources.

Meanwhile, the NCC Ilorin Office held a meeting with delegates of Booksellers Association of Nigeria (BAN) Kwara State Chapter at the Commission’s Office on 16th September, during which the Ag. State Coordinator, Mrs. B.R. Bello reiterated the need for the association to abide by Copyright law and regulations.

Responding, the Chairman of the State Chapter of BAN, Mr. Aloy Ekweosu affirmed the association’s unflinching support towards the achievement of the Commission’s mandates and commended the Commission for the sustaining the national antipiracy campaign.
