Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, was born on July 6, 1961, in the Aladja community of Udu Kingdom. He is a multi-talented Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer, former journalist, and politician.

RMD ventured into acting after completing his degree in Theatre Arts. He made his debut as an actor in the popular 90s television soap operas, “Ripples” and “Checkmate.” His first movie, “Out of Bounds,” showcased his skills as both a writer and producer. In 2005, he received the Best Actor in a Leading Role award, solidifying his acting prowess. Since then, he has appeared in numerous successful movies.

Among his notable films are “Out of Bounds” (1997), “Hostages,” “Scores to Settle,” “Diamond Ring” (1998), “Passions,” “Private Sin” (1999), “Deadly Desire” (2004), “30 Days in Atlanta” (2014), “Fine Wine” (2021)Kings of Boys” (2021).

Mofe-Damijo has established himself as a prolific actor in the Nigerian movie industry, earning several awards for his exceptional talent. He received the Best Film in Nigeria award at the 5th Africa Movie Academy Awards, the Special Recognition Award at the 2022 Best Nollywood Awards, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Recently, he was also inducted into the Oscars Academy. He has been an inspiration to aspiring actors of multiple generations and has become an iconic figure in the world of copyright.

RMD delved into politics when he assumed the role of Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism for Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2008. He later held the position of Delta State’s Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Nigeria from 2009 to 2015.

Today, the Management and Staff of the Nigerian Copyright Commission join in celebrating this acting legend on his 63rd birthday. We wish him a happy birthday and many more successful years to come.
