Recommit to Core Objectives, DG-NCC Charges Staff

STAFF of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) have been charged to recommit themselves to the core mandate of the Commission to initiate and strengthen policies that will reposition copyright industries for maximum benefit of creators and stakeholders
Director-General, NCC, Dr. John O. Asein made the call while delivering a keynote address at the capacity building workshop for staff of the Commission held at the Public Service Institute, Abuja, 25th September 2024.

Restating management’s commitment to staff welfare and capacity building, Dr. Asein, tasked Officers to be creative and acquaint themselves with the provisions of the Copyright Act 2022, which he noted has increased the powers of the Commission significantly. “Anywhere you find yourself as a Copyright Officer, you must be conscious of your powers and be aware of your responsibilities. Always bring that to bear and discharge your duties creditably”, he stressed.

The Director-General, also disclosed that as part of deliberate policy to encourage productivity, Management will introduce an incentive system to acknowledge and reward staff and State offices who bring about innovations and perform exceptionally well.

He further encouraged staff members to implement a positive attitudinal change and proactively deliver on their duties, emphasizing the importance of innovation, professionalism, commitment and good work ethics.
The workshop was divided into two: a plenary session for officers on GL 15 – 17 which featured several topics, including: Leading Progressive Change in Volatile, Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous environment; Strengthening the Internal Processes of NCC for Sustained Service Delivery and Intellectual Property as Proven Growth Enabler: Policy Imperatives for Sustainable Development.

Similarly, the plenary for GL 6 – 14 officers featured: The Role of Intellectual Property in National Development; Customer Care and Satisfaction, and Managing for Result in an Organisation.

The workshop was organised by Future Vision Possibility (FVP) Ltd. and the resources persons were the Coordinator FVP, Chief Chris Eze Ezeilo; Dr. Kayode Ogungbuyi; Dr. Goodluck A. Audu; and Barrister (Mrs.) Taiwo Ojo.
The workshop was attended by Directors and staff of the Commission in an outside the Commission.
