NCC Staff Shines as Government Reaffirms Commitment to Excellence in Public Service

THE Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN has reaffirmed Federal Government’s dedication to prioritising and rewarding excellence in public service.
He stated this at the 2024 Justice Sector Ministerial Award and Recognition Ceremony in commemoration of Nigerian Public Service, themed: Educate an African Fit for 21st Century; “Build Resilient Education System for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa” held on 13th December 2024 at the Ministry in Abuja.
Two staff of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) were among the 58 civil servants honoured at the event: Assistant Director and State Coordinator, Ibadan Office of the Commission, Mrs. Oluropo Christiana Oke and Senior Copyright Officer, Makurdi Office of the Commission, Mr. Peter Augustine Ogwuche received awards and certificates in recognition of their efficiency and effectiveness in service.
The Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation, who was represented by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Beatrice E. Jedy-Agba, emphasised the importance of fostering an environment of professionalism, integrity, and efficiency within the public service. He assured that the Ministry would continue to implement initiatives aimed at improving welfare and promoting a culture of excellence.
In his goodwill message, Director-General NCC, Dr. John O. Asein, congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to strive for further advancement. He urged all staff to remain committed to their duties, stressing that exceptional performance is often recognised and rewarded in the public service
The DG, who was represented at the event by the Director, Human Resource Management, Mrs. Susan Bashorun, commended the Ministry of Justice for the various positive reforms, noting that workers are being spurred to higher productive.
The event also featured a lecture on the theme of the ceremony by Dr. Abel Enokela, a resource person and educator, who urged participants to continually improve their skills and proactively contribute to their organisations.
Several other agencies, including: Legal Aid Council (LAC); Nigerian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS); National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP); National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA); Nigerian Law School (NLS); Nigerian Human Rights Commission (NHRC); Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration; Nigerian Law Reform Commission (NLRC)were also represented at the event.
