THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has raided and confiscated copyright protected works belonging to both foreign and local right owners in Benin, Edo State.
The State Coordinator; NCC Benin Office, Mr. Joseph Ajang who revealed this, stated that the raid was carried out on the 14th of September, 2022 in five optical disc retailing shops in Benin metropolis.
According to him, one thousand three hundred and two (1,302) optical discs from both local and foreign authors were confiscated during the raid while three suspects were arrested, namely: Peter Chibuzor, Tochi Christopher and Davidson Okoro.
The State Coordinator indicated that further investigation was ongoing, following the arrest of the suspected pirates.
