NCC Parleys Disc Jockeys to Curb Music Piracy in Edo State

THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has restated its commitment to chase quack deejays out of the music space in Nigeria to ensure that genuine practitioners reap from their labour.

The State Coordinator, NCC Benin Office in Edo State, Mr. Joseph Ajang made the commitment during a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Disc Jockeys Association of Nigeria (DJAN), Delta State Chapter, in Ughelli, Delta State on 5th July 2022.

Mr. Ajang who represented the Director-General, NCC, Dr. John O. Asein at the event, restated the Commission’s determination to flush out pirates in the copyright system to enable artistes benefit from their creative works. He called on Deejays to always respect the copyright law and promote a robust copyright system in the country.

The State Coordinator who was accompanied by the Head of Operations Unit, NCC Benin Office, Mr. Henry Udomiaye, also used the opportunity to enlighten the Deejays on copyright issues in the music Industry.

The State Chairman of DJAN, Delta State Chapter, Mr. Onome Napoleon in his vote of thanks, commended the Commission for the insights provided on copyright issues in the music industry relevant to them. He assured that the partnership between the NCC and DJAN in Delta State would go a long way in checking the illegal activities of quack deejays.
