The Onitsha Office of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to curb piracy in and around Anambra state.
State Coordinator, Mr. Gabriel Anikwem stated this at an interactive session with executive members of the Main Market Booksellers Association and Ose-Okwodu Booksellers Association, August 29, 2024.
He warned booksellers to desist from pirating or selling pirated books, emphasizing that ignorance of the law is no excuse. He advised them to sensitize their members to shun piracy, as the Commission will enforce the law on offenders.
The Chairmen of the two market associations, Mr. Chijioke Chigbu (Main Market) and Mr. Obed Nweke (Ose-Okwodu), pledged to be law-abiding citizens and work with the Commission to check piracy. The session featured a question and answer segment, where Mr. Anikwem addressed booksellers’ concerns to their satisfaction.
