NCC Onitsha Office, Police Join Forces to Combat Piracy

THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Onitsha Office and the Nigeria Police, Awka have agreed to work more closely in the fight against copyright piracy in Anambra State.

The State Coordinator, NCC Onitsha Office, Mr. Gabriel Anikwem disclosed this in a report following his courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye at the Police Headquarters, Awka on 7th  November 2023.

Mr. Anikwem noted that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing partnership between the NCC and the Police, as part of the Commission’s strategic partnerships with stakeholders and relevant agencies in its antipiracy drive.

In his response, the CP Aderemi Adeoye pledged his full support to the Commission, assuring that he would issue a standing order to all Area Commanders to release their personnel for logistic support without imposing any financial burden on the Commission.

Reinforcing his commitment to make piracy unattractive, the Commissioner expressed readiness to collaborate with the Commission in tackling piracy and ensuring a coordinated effort to safeguard the rights of creatives.
