NCC Kano State Office Celebrates World Book and Copyright Day with Reading Competition

THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) Kano Office collaborated with a frontline school in Kano, Maitama Best Academy, located in the Gaida Quarters of the State to commemorate the 2024 World Book and Copyright Day (WBCD), 23rd April, 2024.
The event which was held at the school’s premises featured a Reading Competition among selected students of the school who showcased their reading skills by reciting excerpts from various books authored by Prof Wole Soyinka.
The State Coordinator NCC Kano Office, Mr Sanni Ahmad said that the Commission used the occasion of the WBCD to celebrate Nigeria’s Literary Icon Prof. Soyinka who will be turning 90 0n 13th July for his immense contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s literary landscape.
Various prizes were given to winners of the reading competition to mark the Day.
In a similar development and in commemoration of the 2024 World Intellectual Property Day, 26th April 2024, the NCC Kano Office visited EnGausa Global Tech Hub, a leading innovation and creativity technology training center located at the Kano Incubation Centre.
The visit, according to the State Coordinator, NCC Kano Office, Mr. Sanni Ahmad, was aimed at raising copyright awareness among trainees and Management Staff of the Tech Center.
The SC urged Management of the Tech Hub to collaborate with the Commission in the fight against piracy and to check copyright infringements in the State.
Reacting to the visit, the General Manager of the Centre Mal. Auwal Bako expressed appreciation for the enlightenment on copyright and pledged to uphold copyright laws while also acknowledging the importance of protecting creativity and innovation.
