NCC Inspires Youths to Harness Creative Potentials

IN line with its mandate to promote knowledge and increase copyright works for export, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has emphasised the need for youths to explore and develop their creative potentials.

The Director-General, NCC, Dr. John Asein, made this call while delivering a keynote address at the Valedictory Session and 18th Graduation Ceremony of the Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS), Apo Abuja on the theme: New Chapter, New Adventure, on 27th July 2024.

Dr. Asein, encouraged the students not to concentrate only on achieving academic excellence but to explore their talents and harness the economic potentials inherent in them, noting that creativity and innovation hold arrays of opportunities.

“As you transit to tertiary education, remember to be brave, resilient, focused and true to yourself, don’t be afraid to take risks and push yourself to the limit he admonished’.
The DG-NCC gave assurances of the Commission’s commitment to strengthening and implementing copyright regime in a manner that will check piracy and safeguard the economic and moral interests of copyright owners and other stakeholders in the sector.

Dr. Asein, presented 100 copies of the Commission’s publication “What is Copyright” to the school for distribution to the graduating students.

Speaking earlier, the Principal AGGS, Mrs. Nkiruka N. Nwofor, expressed appreciation to parents, teachers and others who contributed to the formation of the graduands. She also thanked the DG, NCC for enlightening the students about their creative abilities, passion and how to improve and protect them.
She also enjoined the graduands to uphold all they have been taught and be great ambassadors of the school and the country as they go into the next phase of life.

The event featured prayers and thanksgiving, prize-giving, creative performances, launch of the school yearbook, signing of alumni register, recognition of outstanding students and partners, presentation of awards among other things.

Other dignitaries at the event included: Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Metropolitan Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Most Reverend, Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba; several AGGS Board members; parents and friends of the graduands; Vice Principal Administration AGGS, Mrs. Mrs. Oigiagbe Elizabeth; Vice Principal Academics, Mr. Ehindero Temitayo; teachers and other staff members of the school.
