IN Commemoration of the 2025 Copyright Week, during which the World Book and Copyright Day, on 23rd April and World Intellectual Property Day (WBCD), 26th April were celebrated, the Enugu Office of the Commission (NCC) held several activities to enlighten the public on the importance of IP and copyright.
The WBCD celebration which was held at the state National Library office brought together stakeholders from various background including members of the Nigerian Library Association, Publishers, Students and Staff from both the Enugu Office of the Commission and National Library.
The event featured reading of the DG NCC’s Press Statement by the Director, Enugu Office, Mrs. Ngozi Okeke, who also highlighted the importance of copyright protection. Other activities at the event were: talks and presentations; insight on book publishing and reading competition in both English and Igbo Languages by students, with award of prizes to winners and presentation of books to every participating student.
Meanwhile, officers of the Commission attended the IP Master Class organized by the IP Club of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu Campus to enlighten the participants on relevant copyright and related matters. At the meeting, Assistant Chief Copyright Officer, Mr. Alubo Inalegwu made a presentation on the Overview of Nigerian Copyright System, which was followed by interactions, questions and answers session.
On the 25thApril 2025, the office in collaboration with the IP Club of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu Campus also carried out a road walk around the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, to promote awareness and understanding of IP Rights among the community and attract more members to join the IP Club.
