Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) Dr. John O. Asein has been conferred with the Regulatory Icon of the Year Award at the Nigerian Legal Awards (ESQ Awards) in recognition of his outstanding leadership in the enforcement of copyright laws, fight against piracy and other intellectual property abuses.
The award, which recognises Dr. Asein’s resilience in protecting intellectual property rights was presented at the Landmark Events Center, Oniru Lagos on July 7, 2024.
The ESQ Awards was established by ESQ Legal Practice Magazine to celebrate lawyers roles in economic prosperity and societal development.
Director, NCC Lagos Office, Mrs Lynda Alphaeus, who represented the DG at the event received the Award on his behalf.
In a related development, the DG-NCC has congratulated the PurpleBlue Academy of Music Business (PAMB) for it’s Inaugural Graduation Ceremony held on 23rd August 2024 in Lagos.
Giving his remarks during the ceremony, Dr. Asein, commended PAMB on the significant milestone and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting the vision of PAMB towards a better Copyright and Music Business awareness and looks forward to a more robust collaboration between the Nigerian Copyright Academy (NCA) and PAMB in the area of capacity development for the creative sector.
Earlier in his opening remark, the founder of the Academy Dr. Chinedu Chukwuji expressed gratitude for its evolution into reality resulting in the successful completion of the three months certificate course on the Essentials of Music Business.
The PAMB graduation ceremony was attended by prominent personalities in the creative ecosystem, intellectual property experts, and well-wishers.
