IN an effort to ensure that Printers comply with the Copyright Act and operational guidelines of the Commission, the Ilorin Office led by the State Coordinator, Mrs. B.R. Bello, conducted compliance inspection on some Printing Presses on 10th September, 2024.
Some of the places visited include: Musty Graphics, Krystal-klear Prints and Akot Prints all within the Ilorin Metropolis.
According to Mrs. Bello, the exercise is aimed at reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to fight piracy and ensure compliance with rules and regulations. The SC who noted that some outlets did not maintain proper records warned that non-compliance would result in severe consequences including arrests and prosecution.
The owners were guided on the importance of record-keeping and cautioned against unauthorised printing and book piracy.
In another development, the Ilorin Office on 24th September 2024 inspected some selected schools as a follow-up to the discussion with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Executives, to verify the authenticity of textbooks procured by the school.
The schools visited were ILM Trendsetter Academy; Learnium Group of Schools and Federal Staff School, Adewole, Ilorin, where checks were carried out to determine their level of compliance.
Mrs. Bello during the visits re-emphasised the Commission’s zero-tolerance for piracy and urged schools to patronise publishers directly, collect receipts for purchases and request Id cards from suppliers.
