THE Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), has reaffirmed its commitment to protect right owners in Akwa Ibom State and to enforce compliance with the 2022 Copyright Act.
Ag. State Coordinator, NCC Uyo Office, Mrs. Cornelia Ibanga, made the pledge during the inspection of the proposed office for the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) at the Akwa Ibom State Council for Arts and Culture Uyo, 26 September, 2024.
The Ag. State Coordinator assured MCSN, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) officials and other stakeholders of NCC’s support in promoting a sound copyright regime.
Speaking at the event, CEO MCSN, Mr. Mayo Ayilaran commended the Commission for its efforts towards the growth and sanitisation of the industry. He commended the contributions of former Deputy Governor Akwa-Ibom state and DG-NCC, His Excellency, Mr. Moses F. Ekpo to the development of Nigeria’s copyright industry and gave assurances that MCSN will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders in the state.
In another development, the Ag. State Coordinator, Mrs. Ibanga joined MCSN officials on a courtesy visit to the former Deputy Governor, Akwa-Ibom State, Mr. Moses Ekpo. During the visit, the former NCC Boss expressed gratitude to the current DG NCC, Dr. John O. Asein for his commitment to the development of the Commission and the Creative Industry.
