GET, Mothergold seek NCC Partnership in Hosting Health Conference

An African-led multidisciplinary forum of experts, Global Emerging Pathogenes Treatment Consortium (GET) with bias in health related issues, has sought the partnership of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in hosting the 5th African Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases and Biosecurity billed to hold between 7th to 9th, August 2019 at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja.

Facilitators of the Conference, Mothergold who were at the Commission’s Headquarters on a courtesy call on Wednesday, 10 July, 2019 were received by the Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission, Mr. John Ohi Asein and a team of the Management Staff.

The Head, Corporate Services, Mothergold,  Mrs Wunmi Onome-Hukpe who led a two-member team to the Commission explained that the conference with the theme,Climate Change and Conflict:Implications for Emerging Infectious Diseases and Biosecurity in Africa,will address issues bordering on Public Health Emergencies, Biosecurity Threats facing African countries, Impact of Climactic Change and its conflict on Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID).

She explained that focal points of discussion at the Conference will include Vaccine and Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Biosecurity, Biological Material Collection, Handling and Storage.

Mrs Onome-Hukpe who solicited the presence of the Director-General, NCC, as a special guest at the event also extended the invitation to the staff of the Commission.

The Director-General in his response commended the work being done by the Mothergold in advancing the growth of the health industry on the African continent while stressing that issues of public health affect everyone and every sector and must be given serious attention.

He underscored the importance of a healthy workforce, stating that ‘‘the workforce must be healthy, basic health protocols should be put in place to address health issues’’.

He concluded with words of support from the Commission, saying ‘‘we treasure every course of knowledge interaction and have interest in every sector and assure you that we will be there at your event.’’

Also present during the courtesy visit were the Manager for Innovation at Mothergold, Mr. Destiny Lawal; Director, Prosecution Department, NCC, Mr. Obi Ezeilo; Director, Public Affairs Department, Mr. Vincent A. Oyefeso, and Assistant Director, Public Affairs Department, Mrs Ijeoma Egbunike.
