FRANCIS DURU

Francis Duru is a versatile Nigerian Nollywood Icon, born on July 27, 1969.He is also a model, master of ceremonies, comedian, television personality, director, investor, and entrepreneur. With a humble and pleasant demeanour, he has proven his mettle in the Nollywood Industry over the past three decades.

Duru made his debut in the movie “Missing Mark” in 1989 but gained prominence in the Nigerian Movie Industry in 1994 through his exceptional performance in the action comedy titled “Rattle Snake,” where he portrayed the significant character of Ahanna.

Throughout his illustrious career, Francis Duru has graced numerous Nollywood movies, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility. Some of the remarkable movies he has starred in include- “The Good Husband” (2020); “Mboputa” (2020) – which earned him the prestigious ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo)’ Award; “Stigma” (2013); “Home In Exile” (2010); “Nnenda” (2009); Interest” (2006); “Forces Of Nature” (2006); “My Girl Friend” (2006); “My Little Secret” (2006); “Personal Assignment” (2006); “Soul Engagement I, II & III” (2006); “Sound Of Love I & II” (2006); “Sweet Sound” I & II(2006); “Tears From Holland I & II” (2006); “Upside Down I & II” (2006); “Without Apology I & II” (2006); “Blood Money” (1997); “Rattle Snake” (1995) among others.

In recognition of his positive influence on the youth, Francis Duru received the United Nations Ambassador of Peace Award in 2007. Additionally, in 2010, he was appointed as the Interim President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. His contributions to the entertainment industry and society at large continue to inspire and uplift many.
