The Creators
Femi Kuti is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and musician who was born on 16th June,1962 in London,England. He is the son of the renowned Afrobeat Legend late Olufela Anikulapo Kuti(Fela).

His love and passion for music started at a young age with the influence of his father. At the
age of 16, he joined his father’s band, “Egypt 80”.

Kuti’s musical style is Afrobeat with a fusion of jazz,funk, highlife and traditional African rhythms. He is versatile on saxophone,vocals, trumpet and keyboards.

Kuti 1986 formed his own band “Positive Force”, aiming to promote social and political messages through his musical style.

Kuti’s debut album was “No cause for Alarm, which was released in the late 1980s.
Since then he has released a number of albums and songs. Some of his popular hit include: Beng Beng Beng”; Sorry Sorry; Wonder Wonder; Truth Don Die; Scatta Head; Beasts of No Nation; Yeparipa; Dem Crazy among other hit songs.

Kuti is a widely travelled musician who has performed at some of the biggest concerts in the world and performed and collaborated with some of the best musicians.

He is indeed a great ambassador of Afro beat music attracting his four nominations at the Grammys. His fan base cuts across different age grades and traverses across different countries of the world as he continues to entertain with his unique brand of music.

In recognition of his contribution to music, Kuti was honoured by the French Ministry of Culture on October 20,2022 with the award of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
