PROFILE OF MR. EMEKA DENNIS OGBONNA

DIRECTOR, LEGAL DEPARTMENT, NIGERIAN COPYRIGHT COMMISSION

Barr. Emeka Ogbonna is a native of Okutu in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was born on 29th April, 1965 at Awgu, Enugu State.

He started his primary education in 1971. In 1977, he was admitted to Nsukka High School, Nsukka for his secondary school education. He later studied law at University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus and was called to bar in 1990. He did his one year national assignment in Benin City, Edo State in 1991.

In 1992, he was employed in the Enugu State Ministry of Justice as a State Counsel and deployed to the department of Public Prosecution where he served as a Prosecutor until 1999, when he transferred his service to Nigerian Copyright Commission.

In the Commission, he served as the State Coordinator in Owerri, Port-Harcourt, Enugu, Lagos, Makurdi and Onitsha Offices. At present, he is the Director, Legal Services, Nigerian Copyright Commission, Abuja.

He is a beneficiary of many local and international trainings on Intellectual Property rights. He is also an alumnus of the United State International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP).

He is happily married and is blessed with four children.
