DG-NCC Restates Commitment to Staff Welfare, Capacity Building

AS part of efforts to enhance productivity and foster excellent service delivery, the Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Dr. John Asein has reaffirmed his commitment to improving staff welfare, training, capacity building, recognising and rewarding innovations in the Commission.

Speaking at the staff training and interactive session on the Overview of the 2021 Public Service Rule (PSR) organised by the Human Resource Department (HRD) of the Commission, at the Headquarters, Abuja on 28th May 2024, the DG-NCC disclosed that Management will commence the implementation of initiatives aimed at enabling staff members excel in their assigned duties.
While noting that the Commission is a key agency of the Federal Government’s economic transformation agenda, he admonished staff to be proactive and show more commitment by leveraging the training to upscale their performance for the actualisation of the mandate of the Commission. “The Nigerian Copyright Commission must be seen to be working and you are the ones that will make this to happen. So apart from just looking at the

PSR, we should begin to look at other areas where we can reposition staff” he stated.

He informed that in line with the need for continuous surveillance and anti-piracy campaign, the Commission will soon create an improvised Leave Allowance System to enable staff recuperate and perform better. The Director-General, however noted that the Commission will also be putting in place measures to check and acknowledge exceptional productivity and performance.

Dr. Asein, appreciated the resource persons and all participants, assuring that the Commission will continue to equip staff with relevant information on the PRS, Copyright, Creative Industry and other personnel development measures. “We will do our best to help you believe in the Public Service and be more willing to serve Nigeria, we will not only infuse more knowledge, we will give more people opportunity to prove themselves as some of you will become team leaders” The Director-General stressed.
Delivering the vote of thanks at the event, Director Human Resource Management (HRM) of the Commission, Mrs. Susan Bashorun, thanked the DG for approving the training and encourage staff to support the efforts of Management at boosting productivity and repositioning the Commission. She disclosed that the HRM Department is already mapping out more training for staff members.

Resources Persons for the Training drawn from the Rules and Regulations Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), were Assistant Chief Admin Officer (ACAO), Mr. Dogo Michael and ACAO, Mr. Uche Moses.

The interactive training session was attended by staff members physically and virtually.
