DG NCC Commends Staff at Maiden French Language Programme

THE Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission, Dr. John O. Asein has commended the staff who participated in the A1 French Language Programme, which was sponsored by the Commission as part of its staff capacity building programme.

Dr. Asein gave the commendation during an appreciation ceremony organised by the staff at the Commission’s office, 25th October 2024. He also gave assurances of the Commission’s commitment to equip staff members with other relevant skills to enable them deliver optimally on assigned duties.

Director, Planning Research and Statistics (DPRS) and Coordinator of the programme, Mr. Collins Nweke presented the participants to the DG NCC and joined in thanking the Commission’s Management for the initiative and commended the beneficiaries for their commitment and zeal during the course.

He urged them to continue interacting in French to improve on their communication skills and to put it to  good use whenever the need arises.

Speaking at the event, the French instructor, Mr. Steven Galangal, expressed optimism that all the participants would pass the examination and thanked the Commission for investing in its staff. He commended Management for the support that he received and encouraged the participants to continue to interact with one another in the French Language, noting that speaking is the best way to improve on a language.

Highlighting the stages available in the course, the tutor appealed to the Commission’s Management to extend support the staff further to participate in the next stage of the Language Class to enable them cover the basics of corporate communication skills in French and be better grounded in diction.

Assistant Director Operations and Captain of the class, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ngene, thanked the DG and the Management for the rare opportunity. He assured that the skills gained would be utilised positively and appealed for further support for those who are able to proceed further to the next stage of the learning.

It will be recalled that the Commission earlier in the year enrolled 15 staff for a four-month intensive Beginners French Language for Workplace programme, offered by the Institute Francais du Nigeria to develop communication skills.
