THE Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Dr. John Asein, has reaffirmed management’s commitment to continuous collaboration with the Joint Union Council (JUC) to promote transparency, constructive dialogue and lasting industrial harmony within the Commission.

Dr. Asein gave the assurance during the JUC NCC 2025 Annual Seminar, themed “Managing the Challenges of Emerging Realities in Labour Management and Negotiation in the Public Sector,” held on 9 October 2025 at Jack Villa Hotels, Barin Ado, New Karu, Nasarawa State.

Represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS), Mr. Collins Nweke, the DG acknowledged the Union as a vital partner in building fairness, productivity and institutional excellence. He noted that a harmonious relationship with the workforce remains central to organisational growth.

“As management, we recognize that a harmonious relationship with our workforce is the bedrock of progress. The Union remains an important partner in our shared pursuit of fairness, productivity and institutional excellence. Through open communication and mutual respect, we can address challenges, protect staff welfare and strengthen our collective contribution to national development.”

Dr. Asein urged participants to maximise the seminar as an avenue for exchanging ideas and developing practical approaches for effective engagement, negotiation and conflict management. He expressed confidence that the training would further strengthen partnership and deepen collective commitment to the mandate and values of the Commission.

In his opening remarks, the NCC–JUC Chairman, Comrade Moses Ihuma, thanked the DG and Management for supporting the organisation of the seminar and for the welfare packages provided to staff in commemoration of the Independence Day Celebration. He pledged the commitment of staff to continue discharging their duties diligently.

Deputy Secretary of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Resource Person at the seminar, Comrade Isaac Ojemhenke, encouraged both Management and the Union to maintain cordial communication channels that promote staff welfare and improve working conditions.

The Director, PRS was accompanied to the seminar by the Special Assistant to the DG NCC, Mr. Joni Icheka. The hybrid training was attended by staff at the headquarters on-site and by State Office personnel through Zoom.

The JUC at the NCC comprises the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and the Nigerian Civil Service Union (NCSU).
