DG ASEIN LAUNCHES NCC BRANDED T-SHIRT, ADOPTS ANTI-PIRACY HASHTAG

In line with the rebranding thrusts of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), the Commission’s Director-General, Mr. John Ohi Asein, has launched a branded NCC T-shirt produced by the Public Affairs Department (PAD) of the Commission towards the actualisation of the corporate identity of the NCC.

The initiative which aligns with the DG’s vision of Changing the Copyright Narrative for sustainable development of the creative industries was climaxed with the adoption of the hashtag – #StopPiracy, copyrightng – for the Commission’s public communications drive and social Media platforms.

The Director-General has consequently indicated that the creative concept and high quality of the T-shirt would serve as an impetus for the production of corporate branded T-shirts for all the staff of the Commission in due course while its message #StopPiracy, copyrighting would be adopted to drive the Commission’s copyright protection and antipiracy campaigns.

The event which took place at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja on July 5, 2019 had some members of the Management and staff members of the Public Affairs Department in attendance.

Commending the Public Affairs Department for the initiative, the DG congratulated the Director of the Department, Mr. Vincent A. Oyefeso and entire staff of the PAD for a job well done. He noted that it was a demonstration of the latent spirit of actually wanting to do and going all out all to do positive things in the interest of the Commission. Expressing a pleasant surprise at the creative impetus of the Department, the Director-General noted that the initiative was an offshoot of the new dispensation which under his watch has watered the ground for good seeds to germinate for the advancement of the Commission and the copyright industries.

He envisaged a Copyright Commission where the full potentials of all staff would be maximised to impact positively on the creative sector, a Commission which everyone will be proud of, where the interests of right owners will be adequately protected and the vision of the Commission’s founders will be fully realised.

The Director, PAD, Mr. Vincent Oyefeso, in his address, remarked that the gesture is a creative measure, an innovative expression of the unity of purpose of not just the PAD staff but the entire workforce of the Commission to make an impact in the renewed drive towards the revitalisation of the Commission and the creative industries.

Mr. Oyefeso said the production is a demonstration of the relevance of the input of the PAD and other components of the Commission to the clarion call for all hands to be on deck to stop piracy, hence our message: #StopPiracy, while the other message, copyrightng is a selling point for awareness on the username of the Commission’s Twitter Handle.

The   Director, Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) and Chairman of NCC 30th Anniversary Celebrations, Mr. Mike Akpan, congratulated the Department of Public Affairs for coming out with this initiative as it has set the pace for the actualisation of the Commission’s rebranding effort. Commending the DG for the adoption of the hashtag, he stressed that it was a step in the right direction in the context of the rebranding thrusts of the forthcoming NCC 30th Anniversary celebrations in August this year.

Director, Prosecution, NCC, Mr. Obi Ezeilo while applauding the PAD remarked that in line with the DG’s vision of doing things creatively for the advancement of the Commission and the copyright industries, all the Heads of Departments are encouraged by the efforts of the PAD and assured that they would replicate the initiative in their various departments in a unique way.

Other Directors and Heads of Departments in attendance along with the PAD staff include the Director, Administration, Mr. Idowu Ogunkuade; Director, Regulatory, Mr. Bitrus Dauda; Director, Enforcement, Mr. Augustine Amodu; Deputy Director and Head, Nigerian Copyright Institute (NCI), Mrs. Funmi Adewale and Assistant Director and Head, Internal Audit Unit, Mr. Babatunde Salami.
