Copyright Commission, Stakeholders Partner against Pirates in Enugu

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) is committed to strengthening its collaboration with the Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA), Nigerian Booksellers Association (NBA) and the Chartered Institute of Printers to boost the national campaign against piracy and other challenges undermining book publishing and distribution in the country.

Director-General, NCC, Dr. John O. Asein stated this during a reception held in honour of the National President of NPA, Hon. (Chief) Uchenna Cyril Anioke at Villa Toscana Hotel, Enugu State 11th September 2021.

Dr. Asein assured that the Commission would continue to spearhead efforts to make the state a safe place for the publication and sale of books. He warned pirates and their counterparts to shun piracy or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

The occasion, organised by the Media friends of Chief Anioke, was attended by many dignitaries and stakeholders across the country, including former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu; an NCC Board member, representing the literary sector, Dr. (Sir) Jesse Odu; a co-chairman of the event and former Dean, Faculty of Law, Enugu Campus, Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezeilo (OON); Mr. Kevin Ejiofor who also co-chaired the occasion; and immediate past President of NPA, Mr. Adedapo Gbadega.

Others included President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Dare Oluwatuyi; Executive Secretary, NPA, Mr. Emmanuel Abimbola; Director, NCC Enugu State Office, Mrs. Cecilia Ngozi Okeke; and Mrs. Pat Ndu of Solid FM Radio.
