IN a renewed commitment to fight piracy and check all forms of illegal book distribution as the 2023 book season approaches, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has advised booksellers to abide by the provisions of the Copyright Act and regulations by stocking only genuine books in their bookshops and other sales outlet during the coming book season.
Acting State Coordinator, NCC Kano Office, Mr Sani Ahmad gave this charge when he led a team of Copyright Officers on an unscheduled visit to some popular bookshops around Bata roundabout in Kano.
He said in the course of the inspection, the NCC Officers detected some pirated copies.
Mr. Ahmad cautioned shop owners to desist from unethical practices and warned that henceforth, any booksellers found culpable would face the full wrath of the law and be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
