1989
The Nigerian Copyright Council is inaugurated, creating the nation's first dedicated copyright body.
1992
The Act is amended, creating Copyright Inspectors with enforcement powers to fight piracy.
1996
The Council becomes the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), expanding its regulatory mandate
2007
Optical Disc Plant Regulations are introduced to combat piracy at the production source.
2014
The e-Registration System (NCeRS) launches, digitizing copyright registration for creators.
