IN a proactive bid to equip stakeholders with relevant Copyright information, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Ibadan Office has enlightened School Proprietors, Principals, Lecturers from various tertiary institutions and publishers on provisions of the Copyright Act 2022; the Commission’s e-Registration Scheme as well as vital information on the effects of piracy and punishments as provided by law.
State Coordinator, NCC Ibadan Office, Mrs. Olabisi Ogundiran delivered the Copyright enlightenment session at the South West Educational Summit, hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Lead University, Ibadan on Tuesday 11th July 2023.
The Educational Summit which was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Lead University, Ibadan, Prof. Kabiru Adeyemo, had a lot of educational stakeholders from the South West in attendance.
In the same vein, the Ibadan Office commenced sensitisation activities for the 2023 book season with advocacy meetings and inspection of major bookshops in the Bere Book Market and Iwo axis of Ibadan to ensure strict compliance with anti-piracy regulations.
The inspection exercise which took place 10th and 11th August 2023, provided a forum for Copyright Officers to enlighten booksellers on the provisions of the Copyright Act 2022; rules guiding book distribution, piracy, other illegal acts, their effects and penalties.
