NIGERIAN COPYRIGHT COMMISSION, MAKING CREATIVITY WORK FOR YOU: 2016 FIRST QUARTER REPORT

In keeping with our promise to build bridges and strengthen relationships, we write to update you on the series of activities we have engaged in between January and March 2016.

PROACTIVE ENFORCEMENT INTERVENTIONS

The Commission has carried out 13 strategic anti-piracy operations against Book, Software, Broadcast, Film and Music pirates in different piracy hotbeds across Nigeria between January and March 2016.  Within the period under review, 35 Suspected pirates were arrested while assorted pirated copyright works comprising of books, DVDs, VCDs, CDs, MP3, and other contrivances totaling about 48, 207 with estimated market value of N39, 020, 300 (over thirty nine million Naira) have been removed from circulation. These figures represent income that would have been diverted from legitimate rights owners and also represent taxable income and revenue that would have been lost to the Federal Government.
