Review of the Copyright Act, Cap C28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004

Following the Formal Launch of the Reform of the Nigerian Copyright System, by the Nigerian Copyright Commission in November 2012, the Commission has taken steps as part of the reforms, to review the current statutory framework for the protection and enforcement of copyright, which is the Copyright Act, Cap C28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Consequent on the foregoing, the Commission has come up with a draft Revised Copyright Bill.

The Commission, by this Notice wishes to inform all stakeholders in the copyright industry, interested members of the public and especially other agencies of government, whose mandates touches on the regulation of the creative industries, to study the draft Revised Copyright Bill and avail us of their constructive comments. All comments will be given thorough consideration and where germane, reflected in the final Draft Bill.

 Comments may be submitted online, in the above indicated dedicated Web-portal, or forwarded in Hard Copy to the Director General of the Commission at the Commission’s Head Office, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Annex II, Shehu Shagari Way, Maitama, P. M. B 406, Garki, Abuja.

Please note that all comments must be received by the Commission not later than January 5, 2016
