Copyright Commission Arrests Broadcast Pirate in Kaduna, Confiscates Decoder and Contrivances

Operatives of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in a renewed offensive against the illicit activities of broadcast pirates in Kaduna State have arrested a suspect Mr. Ahmed Imirano engaged in the unauthorized transmission of Multi-Choice copyright protected DSTV signals around Ungwuan Sanusi by L.E.A Primary School of the State on May 1, 2017.

 Director of Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this at the Commission’ headquarters in Abuja said one (1) 3D Decoder and other contrivances  deployed in perpetration of the broadcast piracy valued at over Fourteen thousand naira (N14,000) were confiscated while the suspect was arrested.

 The Enforcement raid which was executed after strategic planning and surveillance was carried out by a team of Copyright Inspectors in collaboration with Multi-Choice officials backed up with a contingent of armed Policemen.

 Arrested suspect was granted administrative bail while investigation continues.

 Mr. Amodu also stated that incidence of broadcast piracy is a fast developing trend in the State and the Commission is strategically deploying all its Oars to nip the scourge in the bud.
