Director-General, Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) Mr. Afam Ezekude has disclosed the readiness of the Commission to grant stakeholders necessary support that will encourage the advancement of Intellectual Property (IP) and Copyright in the country .
The Director-General, NCC stated this while interacting with the former CEO of International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO) and an Independent Consultant in Copyright and Collective Rights Management, Mr. Olav Stokkmo; Chairman, Board of REPRONIG Prof. Olu Obafemu; and Chief Executive Director, Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG) Mr. John Asein, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on April 20, 2017.
Mr. Afam assured that the Commission is fully committed to supporting and reviving REPRONIG adding that once all the requirements are met, licence will be reissued to the organisation.
While appreciating the efforts of the International umbrella body IFRRO and other officials at keeping the organisation, the DG noted that the Commission will strengthen the existing relationship between the two organisations.
The Chief, Executive Director, REPRONIG Mr. John Asein speaking at the event assured that the organisation will comply with regulations and ensure a cordial relationship with the Commission.
While stressing that the organisation require an all round financial, structural and institutional support of the commission to function, he disclosed that REPRONIG is willing to partner with the Commission in enlightening the public on Copyright and other related matters of interest.
The highly interactive meeting also had in attendance Special Adviser to the DG and Director Regulatory Department, Mr. Mike Akpan; Deputy Director, Public Affairs Department, Mr. Aderemi Adewusi; and Personal Assistant to the DG, Mr. Collins Nweke.
