NCC arrests Broadcast Pirate in Lokoja

Officers of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), acting on a tip off from Multichoice Nigeria Limited, have carried out an anti broadcast piracy raid on the residence of one Salisu Mcdonald M., a suspected pirate at Ganaja Village, Lokoja on January 10, 2017.

The enforcement raid tagged ‘Operation Confluence’ was carried out after strategic planning and surveillance by a coordinated team of Copyright Inspectors backed by a crack team of armed Policemen.

Director of Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this in a report released at the Commission’s Head Office in Abuja, said the confiscated items seized are worth One Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N1.2m).  Twenty-Three Contrivances including Decoders, Smart Cards, Boosters, Splitters and Cable wires were confiscated during the operation.

The arrested suspect was granted administrative bail while further investigation continues.

Mr. Amodu reiterated the Commission’s resolve to stamp out piracy in the Country.
