NCC Raids Broadcast Pirates in Warri Delta State

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in continuation of its clampdown on broadcast pirates in Delta State tagged “ Operation Tiger Claw” on November 10, 2016  raided  notorious hubs of broadcast pirates in Warri.
Areas raided include:
•    Bendel Estate, Warri
•    Ejgeba Quarters, Warri
•    Esisi Okere Avenue Quarters, Warri
•    Egbeso Market Road, Warri
•    Enereh road, Warri
•    Udo Opposite Kolokolo lane, Warri.

The enforcement raid was carried out after strategic planning and surveillance by a team of Copyright Inspectors backed up by a crack team of Mobile Policemen.Director of Enforcement,NCC, Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this in a report at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja, said confiscated items worth Seven million Naira (N7m) were seized from the suspected premises. The seized items include; Decoders, Smart cards, Splitters, Remote controls, Extension wires including massive destruction of cables.

He further stated that though suspects are still at large investigation and compilation of case files are on-going.
The renewed onslaught against the activities of illegal broadcast pirates in Delta States by the Commission has been necessitated by the need to protect the interest of stakeholders through proactive enforcement of rights.
