NCC Raids Broadcast Pirates In Onitsha

Operatives of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), determined to rid Onitsha and its environs from the grip of broadcast pirates, has raided Oduakpu, Fegge and Inland town areas in a broadcast wire cutting operation with the arrest of one suspect on November 4th, 2016.The enforcement raid was carried out by a team of Copyright Inspectors backed up by Armed Policemen and officials of Multi-Choice.

Director of Enforcement, (NCC), Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this in a report said confiscated items seized from the suspects were broadcast enhancing devices and wires used in transmitting illegal signals worth 12.3 million Naira. The items comprise of 54 Decoders, 1 Alpha Box, 1 Wiztech, 1 3D tech, 1 DVD, subscription receipts and customers register.

He further stated that the raid was carried out after strategic planning and surveillance by enforcement officers of the Commission following a complaint by the anti-piracy Manager of Multichoice (Mr. Umar) to the Zonal Manager, NCC Zonal Office Enugu.Arrested suspect was granted administrative bail while further investigation and surveillance continues.
