Copyright Commission Raids Film Pirates in Bauchi, Arrests 6 Suspects

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) in a renewed offensive against the activities of film pirates in Bauchi metropolis has raided suspected film pirates at Railway Road Bauchi with the arrest of Six (6) suspects on September 28, 2016.

Disclosing this at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, the Director Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Amodu said, a total of One thousand six hundred and eleven (1, 611) suspected pirated DVDs and Two thousand two hundred (2, 200) empty packets used in packaging pirated DVDs worth Three Hundred and Twenty One Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty (N321, 550) Naira was confiscated from the suspects.

The enforcement raid against the suspected film pirates was carried out by a team of Copyright Inspectors backed by armed policemen.

Speaking on the raid, the Bauchi Liaison Manager, NCC, Mr. Vincent Oyefeso stated that the outcome of the raid was a product of strategic planning and surveillance.

He added that the arrested suspects were granted administrative bail while investigation is ongoing.

He further stated that the Commission in this new offensive will not relent in its effort until the activities of suspected pirates is stamped out of the state and its environs.
