NCC Confiscates N1million Suspected Pirated Literary Works In Lagos

Operatives of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), recently impounded an estimated one million (N1,000,000.00) worth of suspected literary works during an anti-piracy raid carried out in Ajegunle Area, Lagos State.Following an earlier surveillance, Officers led by Assistant Director, Mr. Matthew Dada Ojo, NCC, Lagos Office, backed by a contingent of armed Policemen carried out the enforcement operation on August 10, 2016.

Director, Enforcement Department, Mr. Amodu who stated this in a report gave the names of the two suspected pirates arrested as Ezemenyiba Clement and Ani Fedelis. He further disclosed that one thousand copies of suspected pirated literary works belonging to right owners were confiscated.The Director explained that further investigation into the matter is on-going and that the suspected pirates will soon be charged to court.

He reassured stakeholders that the Commission will continue in its drive of protecting genuine creators and ensure that they reap the fruit of their labour.
