NCC Impounds Pirated DVDs of Cinematography Works Belonging To Producers of The Movie ‘HALF OF A YELLOW SUN’

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) operatives have yet again impounded 1,744 pirated DVDs of the movie 'Half of a Yellow Sun' belonging to Shareman Media.

The success of the raid was with the collaborative efforts of the existing task force units within Alaba International Market of both the Electronics and Fancy and Furniture sections.

The seizure presently in the Lagos office of the Commission is reported to be estimated at approximately One Million Naira. Amongst the seizures were several file jackets of the said pirated work.

The Director General through the Zonal Director (Lagos) Barr. Chris Nkwocha thanked the executives of the associations in Alaba International Market particularly the Electronics section under the leadership of Mr. Uchenna Nnadozie and Fancy and Furniture Section under the leadership of Mr. Nwabugwu Elvis Okoroafor and other stakeholders in the industry.

In the course of handing over the seizures to the Zonal Director (Lagos), the executive Chairman Fancy and Furniture affirmed their further unwavering commitment in protecting creativity. He presently has over 100 different musical/cinematography titles to his credit. As a major stakeholder in the industry and using his office, he stated that they are ready to assist the Commission in combating piracy in Alaba environs.

Mr. Uchenna also stated his preparedness to support the DG, NCC and the Commission in eradicating piracy within his environs.  He also requested for more collaborative efforts to enable the commission actualize its mandate.

The Director General further stated that the Commission recognizes and appreciates the support of other enforcement agencies in the fight against all forms of piracy.
