NCC Confiscates 824 Literary Works in Somolu

Operatives of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has impounded Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) worth of suspected pirated literary works with the arrest of six suspects during an Enforcement raid in Somolu Area in Lagos.

The anti-piracy operation carried out against suspected Printing Press in Somolu was executed by a joint team of Copyright Inspectors led by M.D.A. Ojo of NCC Lagos Zonal Office and a back up team of the Nigeran Army (OP MESSA Team) on 9th June, 2016.

According to the Director of Enforcement, NCC, Mr. Augustine Amodu who disclosed this in a recent report at the NCC headquarters, said, Eight hundred and twenty four (824) copies of suspected pirated books belonging to different authors were confiscated.

The operation was successful with no resistance from the suspected pirates. Mr. Joseph Ojika representing the Zonal Manager NCC, Lagos, however encouraged the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in future anti-piracy raids to minimize accidents as an operative of the Commission Mr. Anthony Ojin was electrocuted with bodily harm during the raid.
