The President, Executive Council and the entire membership of the Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA), hereby wish to commend your reinvigorated efforts at stamping out the monumental infringements on intellectual property, and most especially on copyright prevalent in our country. This your renewed offensive has led to the unprecedented seizure of seven (7) 20ft containers, loaded with assorted pirated books belonging to member-firms of the Nigerian Publishers Association and others with foreign copyrights. This bold step that you are taking has not gone unnoticed by well-meaning Nigerians and the international publishing community as a great attempt to make Nigeria an haven for genuine business concerns with the attendant attraction of foreign direct investments into the economy.

I write on behalf of the management and staff of the Nigerian Press Council to convey our appreciation to your Commission for the very informative workshop on copyright you organised for the Council. While it will suffice to say our officers benefited immensely from the insightful perspective on the Nigerian Copyright law and issues incidental thereto, the dexterity that your highly knowledgeable resource persons brought to bear in their delivery aided our comprehension of the harmful consequence of piracy and the need to combat it.
